Welcome
This is the website of Joe Fox of Walnut Creek, California, a former Chemical Engineering Manager and Art Docent. I have been Administrator of the Fox Y-DNA Surname Project since 2004 and am currently the one who maintains a R-L1/S26 Haplotree. This website mainly concerns family genealogy and genetic testing for genealogical purposes. To read about my first book Growing with America - The Fox Family of Philadelphia, click on Fox Book, where you'll find that an Addendum to the book is also provided. Colonial Roots leads to a second book, Growing with America - Colonial Roots, published in 2016 and revised in 2018 in order to provide the latest information on DNA testing. It concerns mainly my mother's ancestry, (Lay, Martin, Blair, Warfield, Dorsey, Carbery, Roach, Manning, Lacy, Hite) but diverges further into Fox ancestry associated with genetic testing results. Mary Hite's Story leads to a third book, published in 2019, that describes the life of my 5th great grandmother who was a key character in my second book. The heading DNA Testing will lead to basic information on the Fox Surname Project and links to websites with more detailed data and analysis. Virgina Foxes presents a paper entitled What Y-DNA Testing has Shown About the Early History of Foxes in Virginia. The heading Blair/Princeton leads to my story of how our Blair family was involved in the founding of Princeton University, then the College of New Jersey. The author recognizes that personal ancestry information and DNA test data is reported in these books for a few Fox gentlemen living in Europe. As of May 25, 2018, privacy in Europe is protected by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). All these gentlemen are well aware of what has been written and have enthusiastically responded. Care will be taken to assure this is also the case in future endeavors.
